[Note: This is the very first travel writing I ever did in the mid 1990s and as such, it is a bit ‘raw’. The images can’t be clicked to be enlarged, as they are very low-res. Apologies.]
My first trip to Chile and Argentina lasted five weeks and was during February and March in the late 90s. I had always wanted to travel to Easter Island and Bruce Chatwin’s In Patagonia had had a profound effect on me, as well as it being a big influence on my writing style.
The itinerary was as follows:
- Flew into Santiago and stayed in and around the Central Valley for a week.
- Off for five days for a trip to Easter Island, then back to Santiago before embarking for the Chilean Lake District , Puerto Montt and Chiloé .
- One week in Puerto Natales in Chilean Patagonia including a visit to the Torres del Paine National Park , Tierra del Fuego and Ushuaia.
- Finally five days in Buenos Aires to warm my bones after the Patagonian chill.
I was to return to (northern) Chile during a three-month trip that encompassed Brazil, Bolivia, Peru and Chile.
I have not to-date returned to Argentina.
no matter of resolutions images are still very alluring even after reading this post i decided my next vacation spot will be this only so thanks a lot for making me decide.
